In the United States, Lyme disease is the most common disease spread by bug bites: the number of confirmed and probable reported cases more than doubled from 1998 to 2018. 

Most cases occur in Northeastern, mid-Atlantic and North Central states. Sometimes, cases occur along the North Pacific Coast, mainly in northern California. Ninety-five percent of reported Lyme disease cases occur in 15 states and D.C. Check out the map and list of states below.
